We are seeking a Senior Materials Process Engineer to support advanced manufacturing and materials processing initiatives, with a strong focus on polymer science, extrusion, process validation, production efficiency, and continuous improvement.
This role will serve as a technical expert for existing and new materials while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, Quality, R&D, and Operations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in continuous manufacturing environments and can lead process development, scale-up, troubleshooting, validation, and cost-reduction initiatives.

This role will serve as a technical expert for existing and new materials while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, Quality, R&D, and Operations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in continuous manufacturing environments and can lead process development, scale-up, troubleshooting, validation, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert for materials and manufacturing processes, including extrusion-related operations
- Design and implement processes to validate material specifications, critical-to-quality requirements, and overall system performance
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, quality, cost reduction, process consistency, and safety
- Support extrusion line performance, maintenance coordination, troubleshooting, and work-cell continuity
- Partner with Manufacturing Quality to define specifications, investigate nonconformances, and drive Root Cause Analysis and CAPA
- Lead production development activities from alpha/beta runs and pilot launches through production scale-up and sustaining operations
- Develop high-quality manufacturing documentation including work instructions, SOPs, ECOs, process controls, and engineering change documentation
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline
- 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of materials science, physics, and manufacturing process fundamentals
- Experience with statistical process control, control plans, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and process automation
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, and mechanical/electrical schematics
- Experience with 3D modeling and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and technical communication skills
- Ability to independently lead complex cross-functional engineering initiatives
- Master's degree in a related engineering discipline
- Polymer processing or extrusion experience
- Experience with electromechanical systems, industrial automation, closed-loop control, inspection equipment, or precision manufacturing systems
- Lean or Six Sigma experience; Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
- Capital project management experience
- Experience with hard tooling fabrication
- Additive manufacturing or 3D printing experience
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and manufacturing technicians
