About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer to work directly with internal teams to identify operational challenges and build practical AI-powered automation solutions.
This is a highly hands-on role focused on delivering production-ready solutions using LLMs, AI agents, retrieval applications, workflow automation, MCP servers, APIs, and data integrations. The engineer will work closely with business users from discovery through implementation and ultimately transfer ownership through documentation, training, and reusable technical patterns.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner directly with business, engineering, analyst, and program teams to understand workflows and identify automation opportunities
  • Design and build AI agents, retrieval applications, document/data workflows, and process automation solutions
  • Develop MCP servers, reusable connectors, and integrations for internal systems and data sources
  • Build secure integrations involving APIs, authentication, schemas, data pipelines, and event streams
  • Create reusable templates, reference implementations, and internal tools that accelerate future AI development
  • Provide documentation, runbooks, training, and knowledge transfer so end users can maintain and extend delivered solutions
  • Coach technically inclined business users on safely extending AI and automation workflows
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree plus 5+ years, or PhD plus 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong hands-on software engineering experience using Python
  • Demonstrated experience delivering production software directly to users
  • Applied experience building solutions with large language models (LLMs)
  • Experience with LLM orchestration, retrieval/RAG, tool calling, prompt design, and evaluation
  • Experience developing MCP servers, APIs, connectors, or similar production integrations
  • Strong systems integration experience across APIs, data pipelines, event streams, and authentication
  • Ability to conduct discovery sessions, translate business problems into technical requirements, and deliver working solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the DoD, intelligence community, defense industry, or other restricted/accredited environments
  • Previous consulting, solutions engineering, forward-deployed engineering, or internal enablement experience
  • Experience deploying self-hosted or open-weight language models
  • Experience with workflow automation and low-code platforms
  • Experience building AI solutions for functional areas such as supply chain, finance, contracts, or operations
  • Experience enabling business users to build and extend automation solutions within appropriate technical guardrails

Compensation
In accordance with applicable pay transparency requirements, the anticipated hourly rate for this role is $65.00–$70.00/hr, based on experience and qualifications.
